[naviga:h3]Irish ghost story staged[/naviga:h3]

The Lab performance group brings Conor McPherson’s ghost story, “The Weir,” in reader’s theatre format to the Butler Little Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 21.

In a bar in rural Ireland, local men swap spooky stories in an attempt to impress a young woman from Dublin who recently moved into a nearby “haunted” house. After a few drinks, the group begins telling stories with a supernatural slant, related to their own experience or those of others in the area, and which arise out of the popular preoccupations of Irish folklore: ghosts, fairies and mysterious happenings. However, the tables are soon turned when the young lady spins a yarn of her own.

Reader’s theatre is a style of theater in which the actors use only vocal expression rather than visual storytelling with sets or costumes.

Tickets will be available at the door for $5.

The play contains adult language. The theater is at One Howard St.
