GC falls on road, remains winless
CLEVELAND — Grove City College sophomore quarterback Randall Labrie threw for 146 yards and a touchdown, also rushed for 56 yards, but the Wolverines dropped a 42-10 football decision Saturday at No. 17 Case Western Reserve.
Freshman linebacker Carl Jaszcar led Grove City with 19 tackles. Karns City graduate and junior safety Ethan Conto intercepted a pass.
Case Western quarterback Rob Cuda threw for 267 yards and ran for 118. Jacob Burke rushed for 104 yards for Case Western (2-0).
Grove City (0-3) hosts Saint Vincent at 7 p.m. this Saturday.
Men’s Soccer
Slippery Rock dropped a 1-0 decision at No. 2 Simon Fraser Saturday night. Jonathan Sharp made 10 saves in a losing cause for The Rock (1-2-1).
Connor Glennon scored the game’s lone goal for Simon Fraser (4-0). SRU hosts Ashland Wednesday.
Women’s Volleyball
Butler County Community College (4-3) split a pair of matches over the weekend.
BC3 defeated Anne Arundel 25-4, 25-11, 25-14 as Emily Magusiak had 13 digs, Kelly Kabay five kills and Alexis Schmeider eight aces.
The Pioneers lost a 3-2 decision — 20-25, 25-24, 25-18, 19-25, 5-15 — to Howard. Brittney Bianco had 42 assists and four aces, Magusiak 11 kills and 25 digs, Schmeider nine kills and 31 digs.
BC3 hosts CCBC at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Golf
Led by Tyler Good’s medalist score of 76, Butler County Community College defeated Westmoreland, 321-329.
Noah Morgan carded a 79 for the Pioneers while Anthony Lewis had an 81, Michael Rozzi an 85, Luke Ostermayer 93 and Matt Benson 94.
Freeport graduate Julia Fischer placed second among the women with a 95. The Pioneers host CCAC Boyce, Westmoreland and CCAC North Tuesday at Lake Arthur.
