College Notes

ELYSE KIGGINS (Seneca Valley), a junior goalie for the Grove City College women’s lacrosse team, turned away a season-high 12 shots, but the Wolverines fell, 11-9, against Washington & Jefferson on the road to close out the regular season on Saturday.

TORI STEVENSON (Butler), a freshman midfielder for Grove City College, forced two turnovers in the defeat.

KHLOE HUBA (Butler), a freshman attack for Westminster College’s women’s lacrosse team, notched two goals and an assist in a 20-1 home win over Waynesburg University.

RYLEE LONG (Moniteau), a freshman at Penn State Behrend, placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 9.75 inches at Saturday’s Red Flash Open.

ALEX COTTON (Knoch) placed fifth in the discus (137-9) for the Lions at the same meet.

MATTHEW LASLAVIC (Seneca Valley) had a javelin throw of 157-9, good enough for third for Penn State Behrend.

ANGELO DELEONARDIS (Knoch) went 4-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored as Chatham’s basebal team beat Westminster, 7-5, to sweep a home twin bill.

COLE SHERWIN (Karns City) went 2-for-5 with an RBI as Thiel’s baseball team dropped an 11-5 road decision in the second half of a double-header against Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.

Brock Matthews (Moniteau) started on the mound for the Tomcats in that contest, working for four innings and striking out three.
