TV news misses it
On TV we watch marchers holding up signs and some becoming so enraged they act violently against fellow citizens as well as vandalizing properties along the way.
Who are these marchers? What are their ages? Where do they come from (local or bused in)? What do we know about them?
Surely they have individual personalities. Are innocent marchers being programmed to a group mentality? Has anyone bothered to grant the many marchers in-depth interviews to learn about their own stories?
And now to the why. Does anger, fear and/or frustration with their own lives enter into the picture? Are these motives being questioned by the news and TV stations? Can their answers be addressed rationally?
We watchers ask ourselves the questions of who and why so as to better understand the marchers’ motives, but so many interviews with questions and answers are being shouted down. Why can’t we watchers be able to listen to the individual stories of the marchers to better understand their motives and reasoning?
