Harold W. Schnaible

Harold W. Schnaible, 91, of Pittsburgh passed away Monday.

Harold was born April 5, 1925, in Lafayette, Ind., to Albert F. Schnaible and Stella L. Schuesler Schnaible.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Lt. John Schnaible, who died while serving with the Army during World War II, and Albert Paul Schnaible.

He attended St. James Lutheran Church grade school from 1931 to 1939 and Jefferson High School from 1939 to 1943. He graduated in 1955 from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering and a Master of Science degree in chemical engineering and doctorate in chemical engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to Pittsburgh and worked for Gulf Oil Research for four years and U.S. Steel Research for 20 years.

Harold had an avocation for organ playing. He was the organist and choir director from 1946 to 1955 at the University Lutheran Chapel, near the campus of Purdue University. He was the organist from 1956 to 1985 at Epiphany Lutheran Church and from 1985 to 2010 at the First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Harold held offices at the First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, being an elder and a Bible class teacher.

He is survived by five nieces and nephews, John A. Schnaible, Diana Schnaible Hays, Nanette Schnaible Diogo, Thomas Schnaible and Carl Schnaible; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; and 11 great-great-nieces and great-great- nephews.

SCHNAIBLE — A memorial service for Harold W. Schnaible, who died Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries at Haven 1 with the Rev. Douglas H. Spittel officiating.A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at the Springvale Cemetery, Layfayette, Ind., with the Rev.
