A musical tribute to Zelie Basse Passavant, daughter of Zelienople’s founder and for whom the town is named, was presented Oct. 8 and 9, 1976, at Seneca Valley Senior High School. Based on letters to her children and friends in the early 1800s, the production featured this scene in which Zelie’s son, Dettmar, celebrates his birthday with family, friends, and a kitten named Methodist.
