Adams plan revision delayed 30 days

Residents can review details on Website

ADAMS TWP — Passage of a two-year-old revision to the township’s comprehensive plan will be delayed for 30 days at the request of a resident who says new township residents should have a chance to see the revision.

The township supervisors Monday night were poised to pass a revision to the plan that had been drawn up two years ago. Action was not taken at that time because the creator of the revision died and the process stalled.

A public hearing had been held and the revision had been advertised so those actions do not need to be repeated, said township solicitor Mike Gallagher.

But resident Rob Krauthamel requested that because two years have gone by since the revision was discussed that it be posted on the township Website so new residents can view it. Krauthamel asked that the information be posted for 45 days.

He said the township has changed in the past two years, and added the comprehensive plan impacts land use.

“It is important that such a document get relevant and timely input from the residents of the township,” Krauthamel said.

Gallagher said the supervisors could pass it or put it on the township Website for any length of time they want.

Chairman Donald Aiken advised passing the revision immediately since it has not changed in two years.

But Supervisor Russ Ford agreed with Krauthamel and suggested placing it on the Website for 45 days so that taxpayers could offer comments to the supervisors if they choose.

Vice Chairman Tom Franceschina advocated placing the revision on the Website for 30 days before voting on it.

But Franceschina stressed that the vote should take place after the revision had been posted for 30 days and not 30 days from Monday’s meeting.

But Ford said, “We’ve delayed it for two years. What’s 60 more days?”

The supervisors voted unanimously to post the revision on the Website for 30 days, and then vote on it.

The supervisors did not discuss the purpose of the revision.

The township’s Website is www.adamstwp.org.
