KC bats stay hot

Lyrik Reed and Jada Polczynski turned in three hits apiece and Addison Burrows, Aubrey Taylor, Nicole Taylor, Haley Sherman, and Nicole Huff all had multi-hit games, as well, as Karns City was an 11-3 winner in softball play at Brookville on Monday.

Reed went six innings in the circle, striking out nine and allowing two earned runs. Burrows, Polczynski, and both Taylors had two RBIs each.

Freeport 12, Valley 1 — In this 5-inning victory, Addy Caruso doubled and homered while collecting five RBI for the Yellowjackets (8-5, 5-3).

Lauren Clark also homered, Leah Clark doubled and tripled in the win.

Sydney Selker, who had a pair of doubles at the plate, struck out seven in three innings in the circle. Ali Smith fanned four in two innings.

Indiana 7, Knoch 0 — Grace Hensch and Marlee Fraser both had a pair of hits in the section loss for the Knights (11-4, 8-2).

Track and Field

Evan Wright earned a second-place finish (100-meter dash) and Adam Rohrbaugh (high jump) and Autumn Flowers (100 hurdles) had third-place efforts for Mars at last Wednesday’s MAC Track and Field Championship meet, held at Shenango High School.

Wright finished his event in 11.24 seconds, while Rohrbaugh had a leap of 5 feet, 10.5 inches. Flowers completed her scamper in 16.11 seconds.

Boys Tennis

Senior Ben Busler’s 6-4, 6-3 singles win over Shaler’s Liam Creagh pushed the Golden Tornado past the Titans, 3-2, on Monday.

Andrew Bocci and James Walter also had solo victories on the day.

Boys Volleyball

Mars earned a 3-0 sweep of North Catholic with scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 25-20. The Planets improved to 14-0 on the season.

Girls Lacrosse

Mars defeated Seton LaSalle 23-1. No other details were provided.
