Medicare aid topic of programA program to explain financial assistance programs to Medicare recipients will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Butler Public Library, 218 N. McKean St.The event is free and will be organized by the APPRISE coordinator with the Butler Area Agency on Aging.

Butler Class of 1956 reunitesThe Butler High School Class of 1956 will have its 60th reunion from 4 to 9 p.m. July 23 at the Lake Arthur Country Club, 255 Isle Road.The reservation deadline is July 9. For more information or to make a reservation, call Carol Roe Ball at 724-482-4341.

Prospect parish holds festivalPROSPECT — St. Christopher Roman Catholic Church, 229 N. Franklin St., will have a parish festival from 4 to 10 p.m. July 15 and from 5 to 10 p.m. July 16.There also will be an outdoor Mass at 4 p.m. July 16 with celebrant the Rev. Joseph Feltz and music by the Prospect Chime Choir.Square dancing will be from 7 to 10 p.m. July 15 and karaoke from 5 to 10 p.m. July 16.The event will have games for adults and children and a Saturday visit from Star Wars characters, flea market, basket raffle and Steelers ticket raffle.Festival shuttle parking will be at the Prospect Presbyterian Church.

Fundraiser set for Tim McGintySLIPPERY ROCK — The friends and family of Tim McGinty will host a pancake and sausage fundraiser for his family from 8 to 11 a.m. July 16 at the Slippery Rock Township Building, 155 Branchton Road.McGinty, 42, suffered a massive heart attack and traumatic brain injury.The breakfast event will include an auction featuring Penguins and Pirates tickets and gift certificates for the children’s museum, Kennywood, Living Treasures, golf courses and restaurants.
