Mars rolls to 8-1 win

Karns City starting pitcher Nolan Riley worked three inningsd Tuersday in the Gremlins' 12-2 baseball victory over Forest Area.

David Anderson singled three times and drove in three runs to lead the Mars baseball team to an 8-1 section win over Deer Lakes.

Anthony Michalski lashed two doubles. Nico Romano picked up the win, striking out six and not issuing a walk in seven innings.

The Butler boys rolled to a 120-30 win over Shaler thanks to multiple wins by Nathan Kibbie, Brady Hartle, Dylan Swidzinski, Terance Thompson-Maryland and Lamont Hoy.

The Butler girls won 17 of the 18 events on the way to a 126½-23 win over Shaler.

Slippery Rock vs. George Junior Republic and Commodore Perry — Emma McDermott won the high jump, long jump and triple jump to pace an impressive day for the Slippery Rock High girls track and field team in a 110-38 win over Commodore Perry.

The Rockets' boys also had a strong showing in a 97-63 win over George Junior Republic and a 135-13 victory over Commodore Perry.

Fred Urbaniak won the 110 and 300 hurdles, Nick Shea captured the 1,600 and 3,200 and Ryan Putorti claimed wins in the 200 and 400 for Slippery Rock.

Boys Lacrosse

Hampton 7, Butler 6 — Connor Bachman and Nico Cicco each scored a pair of goals as the Golden Tornado nearly rallied from a 7-1 deficit in this loss from Monday.

Gavin Terwilliger had two assists and goalie Brandon Martin stopped 12 shots for Butler.

Butler was coming off a 10-5 win over Baldwin Saturday.

In that game, Lex scored three goals to pace the Tornado.
