Louise Menetta Kunkle

Louise Menetta Kunkle, 88, of Butler passed away Saturday at the Newhaven Court at Clearview.

She was born May 3, 1927, in Butler to the late James Collins and Marguerite (Powell) Collins.

Mrs. Kunkle was a 1945 graduate of West Winfield High School. She then attended business school in Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Kunkle was a board secretary for the Sebco Pool Association, secretary of the Saxonburg Presbyterian Church, and secretary at the H.J. Heinz Co. She also was a secretary for the South Butler County School District, where she served as an elementary secretary and an administrative office secretary.

She belonged to the Butler Chapter 45 Order of the Eastern Star and the Christian Woman's Club of Butler. Mrs. Kunkle was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of 3M's senior group, sorted clothes for the Second Grace Shop and faithfully attended Sunday school until her declining health. She assisted her daughter with Rainbow Girls activities.

Mrs. Kunkle loved going to yard sales with her two friends, Arlene and Nancy. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and making crafts for a Christmas booth at a nearby church's October festival. Mrs. Kunkle also liked to play cards and often hosted card parties with friends.

She and her husband had a camping trailer and their family went camping frequently with her husband's co-workers and their families. She took frequent bus trips with friends.

She was most proud of being married for 50 years before her husband passed away. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with them.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Kunkle and his wife, Lori, of Butler and William Kunkle and his companion, Laurie Choates, of Butler; one daughter, Lynne A. Smith and her husband, Dennis, of Butler; six grandchildren, Alysa Kunkle, Seth Kunkle, Jessica Smith, Jonathan Smith, Jakob Kunkle and Brody Kunkle; two great-grandchildren, Noah Goodnough and Jackson Felder, with another baby due in August; one nephew, Doug Collins; distant cousins; and one stepniece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Kunkle, who she married May 19, 1956, and who passed away Nov. 7, 2007; her brother, Eugene Collins and his wife, Lois; her parents-in-law, Tillie and Lewis Kunkle; and her sister-in-law, Marylyn Kleintop and her husband, Bob.

KUNKLE — Friends of Louise Menetta Kunkle, who died Saturday, April 2, 2016, will be receive from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, with the Rev. Tim Goodman, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Private burial will take place at the Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E.
