Thomas P. Sweeney

Thomas P. Sweeney, 75, of Brackenridge, Pa., formerly of Petrolia, passed away Wednesday at his home.

He was born Feb. 7, 1941, in Petrolia, the son of Ralph B. and Martha E. (Miller) Sweeney.

Thomas lived in Petrolia for most of his life before moving to Brackenridge in 2006. He graduated from Karns City High School in 1959 and worked at Sonneborn for over 25 years.

Thomas grew up in the Petrolia Presbyterian Church and was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Lions Club.

His favorite things to do in his spare time were working on cars and shooting pool. Thomas was well known by many people and enjoyed showing his Irish pride and always having a new joke to share. His family and friends will never forget his willingness to help others and his happy-go-lucky nature.

He is survived by his mother, Martha Sweeney; two sons, Patrick E. Sweeney of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Tedd A. Sweeney of Brackenridge, Pa.; two daughters, Debra L. Gamble and Bette J. Landgraf, both of Brackenridge, Pa.; five grandchildren, Bradley, Kayla, Ashlyn, Tiffany and James; two great-grandchildren, Aurora and Athena; two sisters, Kathleen L. Bowser of Petrolia and Patricia C. Craig and her husband, Edward, of Chicora; his brother-in-law, Ben Zappa of Ridgway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his sister, Cheryl L. Zappa.

SWEENEY — At the request of Thomas P. Sweeney, who died Wednesday, March 30, 2016, visitation will be private.A public funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia, with the Rev.
