Living History French, Indian War event planned

Re-enactors will gather the weekend of Aug. 8 and 9 at the Old Stone House for an encampment, demonstrations and battles. The Old Stone House is at the intersection of Routes 8, 173 and 528.

BRADY TWP — The Old Stone House presents a French and Indian War Weekend on Aug. 8 and 9.

Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 9.

The Venango Trail was a well-known Indian path that stretched from the forks of the Ohio northward toward Lake Erie, running past the current site of the Old Stone House. The trail was used extensively by military troops during the French and Indian War.

On this particular weekend in August, British, French and Native American forces will once again march along the trail.

Suggested admission is $3 per person or $8 per family. Activities will include a complete living history encampment, military demonstrations, and battle re-enactments.

The Old Stone House at the intersection of Routes 8, 173 and 528 is owned and operated by Slippery Rock University.
