Janet Black

Janet F. Black, 76, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born on May 3, 1938, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Regis and Florence Franz Graham.

She worked as a beautician from her home. Before beauty school, she was employed by Troutman's Department Store for 12 years.

She was a member of the St. Mary the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman where she was a member of the Christian Mothers.

Janet especially enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Traveling worldwide, she always had her suitcase packed and ready to go. She loved riding with her husband, John, on their Spider trike and spending time at camp. Let's not forget her dog, Rascal.

Surviving is her husband, John L. Black. They were married on Feb. 4, 1961, and would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this week. Also surviving are her three sons, Keith J. Black of Florida, Lawrence R. Black of Michigan and Randolph (Rhonda) Black of Butler; her four granddaughters, McKenzie, Kelly, Nichole, and Katie; her two grandsons, Eric and Roman, and her two sisters, Audrey (John) Moore of Butler and Cheryl (Kenneth) Hartle of Chicora.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and one sister.

Black — The friends of Janet F. Black, who passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Road, Chicora, with the Rev. Rick Thompson, pastor, officiating.
