Margaret Genevieve McFadden Hubenthal

Margaret Genevieve McFadden Hubenthal, 96, of Harrisville went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Tammy (Jerry) Blair, where she had been living for the past four months.

Genevieve was born on Oct. 2, 1918, in Branchton. She was the eldest of 10 children of Charles W. and Alma Stillwagon McFadden, all of whom preceded her in death.

She went to live with her grandmother, Anna Latshaw McFadden, when she was about 15 to help her. She has lived at that home in Harrisville, Marion Township, ever since except for a brief period when she went west with her son, Philip.

She married Frederick C. Hubenthal on June 15, 1938, at the Harmony Manse in Harrisville. He died on Oct. 2, 1964. They were the parents of five children.

After Frederick's death, Genevieve worked several jobs in the area and retired from Slippery Rock University in 1982, where she was a cook. She then worked as a health care aide and live-in companion to several people in the area.

She was a longtime member of the Harmony United Presbyterian Church in Harrisville, where she had been active in the missionary societies and the quilting group. She loved quilting, sewing and crocheting.

She was known for always welcoming people into her home who were in need.

Surviving are her four children, Margaret (Robert) Koenig of Grove City, Fred (Helen) Hubenthal of Clark Fork, Idaho, Karl (Rheta) Hubenthal of Harrisville, and Phillip (Cheryl) Hubenthal of Laramie, Wyo.; her son-in-law, Cecil Bevan of Jackson Center; her 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Ramona (John) McFadden of Harrisville, and her brother-in-law, Al Andrusky of Mercer.

In addition to her husband and siblings, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sondra Bevan; three granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.

Hubenthal— The family and friends of Margaret Genevieve McFadden Hubenthal, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, are welcome from 10 a.m. to the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, 234 N. Main St., Harrisville, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Jones, church pastor, officiating.A luncheon at the church will immediately follow the service. Interment will be at Prairie Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Harmony United Presbyterian Church, P.O.
