William A. 'Bill' Ruediger Sr.

William A. “Bill” Ruediger Sr., 66, of Butler passed away at 9:40 p.m. Saturday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler surrounded by his family.

He was born on Jan. 4, 1948, in Tarentum to the late Harold Russel Ruediger Sr. and Elizabeth (Fotheringham) Ruediger.

Bill was a member of the East Butler Presbyterian Church, where he formerly served as an elder. There he was able to pursue his love and passion for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Bill worked hard all his life to provide for, help and serve his family in every way that he could. He enjoyed flying model planes, hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy Ruediger, who he married on Oct. 23, 1970; his two sons, William Ruediger Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Butler, and Eric Ruediger and his wife, Mary Grace, of Connoquenessing; his daughter, Kelly Sumansky and her husband, Chris, of Butler; his six grandchildren, Rebecca, Jeffrey, Jesse, Amber, Bryan and Gage; his four brothers, Norman Ruediger and his wife, Ann, of Spanoway, Wash., Robert Ruediger and his wife, Charlotte, of Herman, Russel Ruediger and his wife, Pat, of Flagler Beach, Fla., and David Ruediger and his wife, Judy, of Florida; and also by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hendery Ruediger.

Ruediger— The friends of William A “Bill” Ruediger Sr., who passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Mary J. Kitchen of East Butler Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the East Butler Presbyterian Church, P.O.
