I wish to express appreciation to the Butler Eagle for having printed the nice Dec. 20 letter from Beverly Saeler Charpentier, someone I’ve never met, headlined “Businessman praised.”

I have tried my best over the years to work on behalf of others, especially the kids of this community. I am glad someone has noticed besides the newspaper’s staff members.

It really is nice that someone took the time, especially during the busy days leading up to the Christmas holiday, to write that letter.

I appreciate all the Butler Eagle articles dealing with the effort to obtain a police dog for the city and, previously, regarding the Island Bicycle Rodeo, Camp Creation and all the other free community events I sponsored in years past.

Without the articles dealing with the police dog fundraiser, it would not have raised $78,000 as quickly as it did.

At this time I wish to praise everyone who helped keep that story before the public.
