Songs from 'Poppins,' 'Pooh' and more performed
ZELIENOPLE — Kelly McCormick, who starred in the first national tour of Broadway’s “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” headlines the Strand Theater’s second of three Broadway concerts.
“SuperZELIEfragilisticexpialidocious: The Music of the Sherman Brothers” highlights the film and Broadway classics of Richard and Robert Sherman, two Hollywood writers whose careers span “The Absent Minded Professor” to “Iron Man 2.” Many of their songs made the leap to Broadway success, as well as some pop hits along the way.
The show will be presented at 8 p.m. April 1 and 2 at the Strand, 119 N. Main St.
This concert includes music from shows such as “Mary Poppins,” “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” “Winnie the Pooh,” “The Jungle Book,” “The Sword in the Stone” and, of course, “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.”
Tickets are $25 to $35 with pricing of $15 to $20 for children 12 and younger, with a maximum of two children’s priced tickets per each adult.
McCormick played the role of Truly Scrumptious in the first national tour of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and most recently appeared as Bev in the off-Broadway production of “The Extraordinary Ordinary.”
The second installment of The Strand’s Broadway Concert Series is directed by Ron Slanina, who will also be a featured performer in this concert, alongside local favorite Kathy Lash. The concert will be conducted by Bruce Smith.
