Broadway Teri Bibb returns to Strand

Teri Bibb will kick off the second season of the Broadway Concert Series with concerts at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Strand Theater in Zelienople.

ZELIENOPLE — Teri Bibb returns to sing selections from the Broadway shows of Richard Rodgers in “My Funny Valentine”at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Strand Theater.

Highlights will include music from “The King and I,” “South Pacific,” “Pal Joey,” “Carousel,” “Cinderella,” “The Flower Drum Song,” “The Sound Of Music” and “Babes of Arms,” to name a few.

Bibb last sang on the Strand stage in 2009 with “The Phantom’s Leading Ladies.”

Bibb has played the role of Christine in “The Phantom of the Opera” more than 1,000 times on Broadway and with the national tour, earning a Helen Hayes Award nomination and a Carbonell Award along the way.

She was also seen on Broadway in the revival of “She Loves Me” where she stood by for and played the role of Amalia. She starred in the world premieres of “Songs from the Tall Grass” at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. and “Children of the Night” with the Katselas Theatre Company in Beverly Hills, for which she received a 2009-2010 Ovation Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical.

Bibb has been a featured soloist in tributes honoring Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Sondheim and Harold Prince. She sang duets with José Carreras at his Radio City Music Hall engagement, sang a gala for Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate, and starred in “One Enchanted Evening” in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

She has sung with orchestras across the U.S. and can be heard on the recordings “Unsung Irving Berlin” and “A Gala Concert for Hal Prince.

The second season of The Strand Broadway Concert Series is directed by Ron Slanina, conducted by Bruce Smith, and features Mary Ann Mangini, Bob Hazen, David Seikowski and Kate Queen.
