Earl E. Saeler, Jr

Earl E. Saeler Jr., 75, of Butler died Friday at his home.

Born Oct. 6, 1942, in Butler, he was a son of the late Earl E. Saeler Sr. and Pauline Mary Hinterlang Saeler.

Earl worked in the machine shop at the Armco Steel plant, retiring in 1996 after 30 years. He then worked as a custodian for the Butler School District for eight years.

He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church and also the choir at St. Wendelin. He enjoyed farming, traveling on his motorcycle, playing the guitar and the harmonica.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline Rose Eury Saeler, whom he married Sept. 10, 1966; his six children along with their children, Joseph Earl Saeler, Taylor Jo and Skylor Rose of Butler; Gretchen Marie (Matt) Bishop, Clare Marie and Evalyn Rose of Chicora; Thomas Earl Saeler of Butler; John Earl (Angie) Saeler, Emily Marie and Lindsey Ann of Butler; Veronica Rose Saeler, Iyana Storm of Butler; and Eric Earl Saeler (Heather Parsons), Elijah and Christian of Pittsburgh; numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who all knew him as Pappy; and his siblings, Carol Saeler, Kate Malis, Mary Lou Carlock, Barbara Campbell, Kass Malinski and David Saeler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Peg.

SAELER — Friends of Earl E. Saeler Jr., who died Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Matt McClain, pastor, will officiate.
