Helen L. Kamerer

Helen L. Kamerer, 80, of Butler passed away Thursday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

She was born Jan. 17, 1938, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late James David and Nellie (McKissick) Vasbinder.

Helen was the center of a large family and was happiest when surrounded by them. She was an avid bingo player, a bowler and a reader. She enjoyed watching western movies and reruns of her favorite television shows, such as “The Waltons” and “Bonanza.” She enjoyed card games like Skip-Bo, Canasta and Bid. Helen was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins, rarely missing a game on television.

Surviving are four daughters, Robin (Richard) Leitch of Panama City, Fla., Cheryl (Leslie) Browning of Panama City, Fla., Jacki (Randy Rhodes) Ewell of Reno, Pa., and Patti Pulver of Butler; two sons, William “Butch” (Janet) Kamerer Jr. of Prospect, and Rich (Sherry Noblit) Kamerer of Butler; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Vasbinder of Butler, and Mabel (Dave) Duncan of Butler; and a brother, Joseph Vasbinder of San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Kamerer Sr., who passed away on Nov. 25, 2004; a sister, Shirley Smith; a grandson, Elijah King; and a granddaughter, Angel Swift.
