Butler City claims final 3 Legion games
Butler City won its final three regular season games in Butler County American Legion baseball action.
Josh Friel struck out 13 in an 8-4 victory over Saxonburg. Tim Butler homered and had four RBI while Christian Manny had a double and three RBI.
Losing pitcher Taylor Sharar struck out eight for Saxonburg.
Winning pitcher Alex Ziegler struck out seven in a 5-2 win over Slippery Rock. Manny had a single and two RBI.
Jason Bennett had a double and two RBI, Derek Saylor two singles for Slippery Rock.
Shae Stobert got the win on the mound in a 12-2 triumph over West Sunbury. Friel had a pair of doubles in the victory.
In other action:
J.J. Hutchinson homered, singled and had two RBI while Tyler DiMaria had a triple, single and two RBI in West Sunbury’s 4-3 victory over Cranberry.
The BCAL Tournament gets under way tonight with No. 1 seed Meridian facing No. 8 West Sunbury, No. 2 East Butler hosting No. 7 Valley, No. 3 Butler City hosting No. 6 Slippery Rock and No. 4 Center Township hosting No. 5 Saxonburg.
