Officials: Girl saw triple shooting
NEW CASTLE — The younger sister of a 10-year-old girl slain with her mother and a man inside their home witnessed the attack and identified the shooter, court documents show.
Court documents state the girl was upstairs in the New Castle home when she and her sister heard two noises from the floor below.
She told police she was behind her sister coming down the stairs when her sister, who asked what was going on, was shot. She also said the shooter pointed his gun at her but didn’t fire.
Reports stated that the four of the slain girl’s siblings, ages 4 to 9, were upstairs during the attack.
Steven Procopio, 19, of New Wilmington, was charged Thursday with three counts of homicide in the deaths of Amariah Emery, her mother, Nichole Pumphrey, 31, and Lawrence Cannon, 31.
He has told police he was at the house but that another man shot the victims, sometime between Monday after 8 p.m. and Tuesday at 6 a.m.
Procopio is being held without bail.
