Lenape Tech updates courses

Lenape Tech, a comprehensive vocational school in Ford City, has been serving the needs of the community and industry since 1965.

Its Adult and Continuing Education Program serves many people with a variety of evening and Saturday classes that provide a wide range of learning opportunities. Courses include licensed practical nursing, various options in trades and industry, computer applications, and medical and alternative therapies.

Lenape can meet the needs of anyone interested in improving their workplace skills, wishing to explore a new career or personal direction or just wanting to have fun. The majority of its instructors bring the advantage of real-life experience, learned from working in their fields of expertise.

Certification and Act 48 credits are awarded for eligible programs. Other classes can lead to certification or to give students an opportunity to explore a new career option, without a significant economic commitment. Some classes prompt students to continue their education at another institution.

Several classes in trade and industry, medical, business, and computers have been added or redesigned to meet the needs of our students. These classes may be eligible for credits at Indiana (Pa.) University: electro-optic classes, introduction to photonics and opto electronics.

Classes added to refresh or enhance professional skills and communication essentials include: OSHA 10-hour construction certification, 15-hour QuickBooks class, Internet security, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2 and basic English

New classes in alternative health therapy include: Tai Chi for arthritis and back pain, aroma therapy and herbal foot soak.
