Firefighter Scott Frederick uses a saw to cut a guard rail at the scene of a crash on I-79 Sunday.
Man suffers minor injury

JACKSON TWP — Emergency responders were called to Interstate-79 early Sunday morning where a car crashed through a guard rail.

The driver, a man, was out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived. The wreck was reported at 4:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the Zelienople exit.

The guard rail had passed all the way through the Dodge two-door sedan just behind the driver’s seat.

“It was skewered,” said Scott Garing, Harmony Fire Chief.

The driver was transported to a nearby hospital with only minor injuries, Garing said.

Firefighters used a saw to cut the guide rail so that the vehicle could be towed away.

State police were called to investigate the crash and Jackson Township police assisted at the scene.
