Allegheny Township awarded grant for business park
Allegheny Township was awarded a $931,920 H20 PA — Water Supply, Sewer and Stormwater program grant by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, according to state Sen. Joe Pittman, R-41st, and Rep. Lee James, R-64th.
The township is planning to upgrade the Allegheny Clarion Valley Business Park’s water supply treatment plant and wastewater treatment plant. Both facilities have been cited by the Department of Environmental Protection for deficiencies. The total project is estimated at $3,786,952.
“This project is vital on several levels, beyond the serious public health and safety issues created by the deteriorating systems at these current facilities, there is also an important economic component here as these facilities are essential to maintain the 600 jobs in the business park,” Pittman said.
