Faculty shows dance moves

BUFFALO TWP — Freeport High School raised $3,067 for the Freeport Food Bank by holding a "Dancing with the Faculty" competition.

The contest started with 19 high school teachers and their student partners taping one-minute dance routines that aired on cable access channels.

After people donated money for their favorite dancers, the top six couples performed during a Nov. 21 assembly. A panel of high school alumni judged the routines.

The winning couple was Tawnya Lunz, a broadcast communications teacher, and senior Josh Schreckengost, dancing the Mambo.

Biology teacher Toni Riffer and freshman Sergei Dines placed second.

In a third-place tie were Phillip Bushre, a social studies teacher, with senior Kirsten Almquist and instructional assistant Jamie Philips with freshman Alex Isenburg.

The teachers and students who didn't make it to the finals opened the assembly with a choreographed dance.
