The Herman Volunteer Fire Co. recently held its second annual essay contest, which is open to sixth graders at St Mary of The Assumption Elementary School and Summit Township Elementary School. The topic was the dedication of volunteer firefighters. Winners were, from left, Kayla East and Blaise Neigh of Summit Elementary and Anna Bauer of St. Mary. They are pictured with Fire Chief Tom Martin. Winners each received a $100 savings bond.
