PITTSBURGH — The Teacher Excellence Center named its 101 top teachers to be honored this year.

Included on that list are Antoinette Riffer from the Freeport School District, James Lucot Jr. of the Seneca Valley School District and Scott McCarthy of the Mars School District.

All 101 teachers will be honored April 25 at the Celebration of Teaching.

Seven of them will be recognized as Teachers of Excellence and given a $2,500 grant and a field trip.

In all, 83 school districts in southwestern Pennsylvania submitted more than 3,000 nominations.
