Teachers sought for awards

Nominations are being taken for the Red Apple Awards, which honor teachers at public schools and colleges.

The United Way of Butler County, along with Armstrong and the Pennsylvania State Education Association, will present the awards for the fifth year. An award will be given to a teacher in each of the seven Butler County school districts, and to a teacher at Butler County Vocational-Technical School.

Awards will also be presented to an instructor at Butler County Community College and Slippery Rock University.

Awardees will be announced in May and will be honored at the United Way annual breakfast meeting June 18.

Nominations may be made by students, parents, peers, administrators, and business or community members. Forms are available by calling 724-285-2260 or stopping at the United Way office, 325 New Castle Road, and at all school buildings, Friedmans, the Clearview Mall, the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, the Butler Eagle, and Armstrong Cable offices.

They are also available at www.butlerunitedway.org.

The deadline for nominations is May 1.
