SRU men, women sweep Millersville
Naquil Jones scored a career-high 24 points as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team rallied from 13 down to topple Millersville, 73-56, Saturday.
The Rock (6-4, 3-2) has now won three straight.
Jones played all 40 minutes and went 7-for-12 from the field, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range. He was also 7-for-7 at the free throw lin.
Jones also had seven rebounds and nine assists.
Jordan Marrow came off the bench to score 11 for The Rock, which out-rebounded Millersville 50-24.
Garrett College 88, Butler County Community College 70 — Garrett McHenry and Grove City High grad Brendan Record each scored 15 points to lead the Pioneers (0-13).
Kaden Rock added 13 points and Chris Pipkins 11 for BC3.
Women’s Basketball
Krista Pietropola scored 20 points to lead SRU to a 74-43 win over Millersville.
The Rock (5-5, 3-2) held Millersville to 24.5 percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers.
Lexi Carpenter added 16 points for Slippery Rock.
Garrett College 90, BC3 30 — Lea Roth scored 12 points and Julia Baxter added 10 for the Pioneers (6-5).
