Nominations for the Red Apple Awards for teachers are being accepted.

This is the sixth year for the awards that honor outstanding educators in Butler County. They are sponsored by the United Way of Butler County, Armstrong, and the Pennsylvania State Education Association.

Anyone can nominate a teacher. Forms are available at any school, the United Way office, Friedman's supermarkets, the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, Armstrong cable TV, and online at www.butlerunitedway.org.

The deadline is May 6.

Winners will be honored at the United Way Annual Breakfast June 17. One awardee will be chosen from each of the seven school districts in the county, the Butler County Vocational-Technical School, Butler County Community College, and Slippery Rock University.
