SR student stars on stage
SLIPPERY ROCK A sixth grade student at Slippery Rock Middle School recently was a finalist in two regional competitions.
Lena Skeele was a contestant in a Shakespeare competition at the Pittsburgh Public Theatre with more than 1,000 students in grades four through 12. The students competed in scene and monologue categories.
Portraying Helena in "All's Well That Ends Well," Lena was one of 25 finalists chosen to perform in the showcase of finalists at the theater.
Lena also was a finalist in the Kean Idol singing competition. Singing "At the Beginning," from the Disney movie, "Anastasia," and also a jazz version of "I've Got No Strings," Lena was chosen as one of the finalists from 100 singers.
Lena will appear in the Civic Light Opera's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat" at the Benedum in Pittsburgh May 26 to June 7.
