Edna M. Cemate

Edna M. Cemate, 92, of New Wilmington, formerly of Hilliards and Butler, passed away Tuesday at the Grove in New Wilmington.

She was born Nov. 19, 1926, in Hilliards, the daughter of the late Harry H. Turk and the late Maude E. Thompson Turk.

Mrs. Cemate was a homemaker.

She was a member of Hilliards United Methodist Church and also attended Community Alliance Church.

She enjoyed music and could play the piano by ear. Mrs. Cemate was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family and being a devoted mother, grandmother and great- grandmother.

She is survived by one daughter, Carol E. Walker of New Wilmington; three grandchildren, Rodrichard R. (Diane) Walker of Butler, Shelly W. (Dan) Miller of New Wilmington, and Scott J. (Angel) Walker of Volant; seven grandchildren, Collin, Reese, Chance, Tagg, Beckett, Tennyson and Landry; one stepgrandchild, Stephanie (Rob) Green; her step great-grandchildren, Navaeh and Amayah; one brother-in-law, Robert Cemate of Canton, Mass.; three sisters-in-law, Jennie Buccini of Grove City, Rose Middendorf of Lincoln Park, Mich., and Mary Turk of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lunchion M. “Joe” Cemate, whom she married on Aug. 3, 1946, and who passed away on Nov. 27, 2005; three brothers, William Turk, Russell Turk and Clair Turk; and three sisters, Ruth Crow, Beatrice Steighner and Florence Parenti. Edna was the last of her surviving immediate family.

CEMATE — Friends of Edna M. Cemate, who died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Amy Worline of First Church of God in Grove City officiating.Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Butler Public Library, 218 N.
