Lawrence McClain Sr.
Lawrence E. McClain Sr., 80, of Seven Fields, passed away in the Lord's arms on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, in the comfort of his home.
Born Aug. 30, 1941, and was the son of the late Lawrence T. and Patricia M. McClain.
He was the beloved husband of the late Joy McClain, whom he married on May 16, 1992. Joy preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2020.
He was the loving father of Larry (Andrea) McClain Jr., and Jennifer, Heather (Mike), Erinn, Rick and Joey Kennedy; dear grandpa of 10, and great-grandpa of two.
He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he served a career that spanned 40 years. He started in 1961 as a substitute clerk, and was the first part-time employee to ever be promoted to supervisor in Pittsburgh. He carried mail and also worked as a mail handler. He also served as a substitute clerk on the railway system between Pittsburgh and New York City, for some period of time.
In Pittsburgh, he was the manager of mail processing, before being promoted in 1986 to director of city operations, PCES at Harrisburg. From there, he was promoted to MSC manger/postmaster in Lancaster, and on to regional logistics manager at the Eastern Region in Philadelphia.
In 1992, he was promoted home to Pittsburgh as PCES district manager lead, and then some years later, as PCES plant manager lead.
His desire was to help people, so after retirement, he made a decision in 2002. He went back to school and earned a bachelor's degree at Andersonville Baptist Seminary, as well as a doctorate in Naturopathy at Trinity College.
While learning, he served as an assistant to the leading parasitologist, Dr. Overman in Millersburg, Ohio. He served others, missionaries and family, by treating them with natural solutions.
He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, who was his best friend and is with him and Joy, who now are waiting for all of those who choose to follow.
MCCLAIN — Family and friends of Lawrence E. McClain Sr., who died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, are welcome from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Devlin Funeral Home of Cranberry, 2678 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sylvania Hills Baptist Church, 567 Pittsburgh Road, Rochester, Pa., with Pastor Michael Bailey celebrating.
Entombment will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
