Melissa Ketterer

Melissa Sue Ketterer, 52, of Hollywood, Fla., formerly of Zelienople, passed away Aug. 22, 2021, surrounded by her loving family after a short, but hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 27, 1969, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Eleanor and Harry Evans.

She married her college sweetheart in May 1987, and together they raised a daughter.

Melissa’s distinguished career as a dedicated employee benefits and health and welfare professional was punctured on July 31, 2021, when she received her designation as Juris Master from the Florida State University College of Law.

Melissa was passionate about mentoring and guiding all people, but especially young women as they began their professional careers. She was a true friend and trusted confidant, with a tenacious spirit that energized those around her. In her spare time, Melissa enjoyed attending Renaissance Festivals (in costume of course), in addition to donating countless hours to the Basenji Rescue and Transport Home to ensure dogs in need received the love and care they deserved.

Melissa is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert “Bob” Ketterer; one daughter, Katherine “Katy” Ketterer; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alice and Walter Ketterer.

KETTERER — A celebration of the life of Melissa Sue Ketterer, who died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 114 W. Spring St., Zelienople.

A service will follow with Pastor William Aley officiating

Memorial donations may be made to Basenji Rescue and Transport Home at https://www.basenjirescue.org/donations.
