8:41 a.m. Thursday — Keirstan N. Wiles, 24, of Sarver, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after her sport utility vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Summit Township, injuring her and two young children riding in the vehicle.Police said Wiles' SUV struck an embankment on the 500 block of Bonniebrook Road before hitting the pole and overturning. The wreck toppled the pole, according to a police report, causing wires to lay across the road. She was not wearing a seat belt and suffered apparent minor injuries.She and the children, both boys, ages 2 and 5, who also had injuries believed to be minor, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital. Both boys were in child safety seats.Police said Wiles submitted to a blood draw at the hospital and charges are pending lab results.5:28 a.m. Thursday — An Armstrong County man was injured when he lost control of his truck after apparently falling asleep and struck an embankment on Route 422 about one mile east of the South Shore exit in Muddy Creek Township. The truck, driven by Cory J. Bowser, 32, of Worthington, overturned on a guardrail.Bowser suffered apparent minor injuries. Police cited him for careless driving, causing an accident involving an overturned vehicle and disregarding traffic lanes.7:58 a.m. Sept. 2 — Two people were injured when their vehicles collided at Route 308 and Holyoke Road in Center Township. Both drivers — Elanor R. Zito, 28, of Butler and Maegan Q. Stitt, 28, of Hilliards — suffered minor injuries, but refused hospital treatment.Zito's car and Stitt's SUV were towed. Police said Zito was cited for a stop-sign violation.3:30 p.m. Sept. 1 — Joshua E. Schill, 26, of Sarver, was injured in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction wreck in Muddy Creek Township. Police said the crash occurred when Schill was unable to stop his pickup and struck another pickup, driven by Kurt E. Schultz, 65, of Fombell, Beaver County, which was in front of him and slowing for traffic on Route 19 at Bauder School Road.Schill's pickup veered across the road and hit an embankment, and the collision spun Schultz's truck into a third pickup, driven by Anita L. Prelec, 59, of Harmony, which was stopped at a stop sign on Bauder School Road.Schill was taken to an unspecified hospital in Beaver County with an apparent minor injury. He was cited for following too closely to another vehicle and not wearing a seat belt. The Portersville-Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department and EMS assisted at the scene.5:02 p.m. Aug. 31 — Cars driven by Christopher J. Zaphyr, 21, of Slippery Rock, and Dillon L. Hawthorne, 21, of Greenville, Mercer County, collided on Harmony Road just south of South Rock Drive in Slippery Rock Township. No one was injured, but Hawthorne's car had to be towed. Police cited Zaphyr for disregarding traffic lanes.Aug. 25 — Brian L. Scott, 34, of Petrolia, was charged with drugged driving stemming from a July traffic stop in Chicora. He was pulled over around 12:50 p.m. July 17 on Grandview Boulevard.A consent search of the vehicle, according to court documents, turned up a crack pipe and other drug contraband.Police later took Scott to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, documents said, which showed he had methamphetamine, MDMA and buprenorphine in his system.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license, improper passing in a no-passing zone, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to use turn signals and careless driving.Aug. 21 — Cole M. Bergbigler, 21, of Summit Township, was charged with being more than twice the state's legal limit for alcohol stemming from a July wreck in Clearfield Township. Police said he traveled off Fenelton Road and crashed through a fence around 1:10 a.m. July 16.A subsequent breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.185 percent, court documents said. He is charged with DUI, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
4:11 p.m. Friday — A California man lost control of his tractor-trailer and struck a ditch on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. The driver Walter B. Buncome, 54, of Victorville, was not injured.5:06 p.m. Aug. 30 — A Grove City couple was injured when their motorcycle crashed in Perry Township. Gregory A. Filer, 47, lost control of the cycle on Hadley Road just west of Lake Wilhelm Road, causing it to fall onto its right side.He and a passenger, Brenda M. Filer, 46, suffered minor injuries. She was taken to Grove City Medical Center and he was treated at the scene. Both were wearing helmets.Aug. 27 — Mark E. Anthony, 63, of Grove City, was charged with having several marijuana plants in Liberty Township. Police said the plants were found Aug. 21 growing along a lot in a trailer park.Anthony was arraigned on a felony charge of manufacture or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He is free on $15,000 unsecured bail.
