Historical society plans open house, hot dog bash
The Butler County Historical Society will host an open house and hot dog bash from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 19 at the Sen. Walter Lowrie House at 123 W. Diamond St.
There will be free tours of the Lowrie House, a yard sale and basket raffles.
In addition, there will be a hot dog bash as a celebration of the Butler Hot Dog and Sandwich Shop. There will be a tent decorated with shop photos, a recently-donated hot dog shop sign and an original shop window with its logo. People can buy hot dogs, try three “copycat” versions of the Hot Dog Shop’s famous chili sauce and then vote for their favorite. The winner will receive the People’s Choice Award.
Visitors will be encouraged to share their shop memories for inclusion in the society’s archives.
