County horsemen fare well Monday

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Driver Brady Brown of Slippery Rock and trainer Mitchell York of Cranberry Township collected two titles each Monday as The Meadows hosted all eight $25,000 Pennsylvania Fairs harness racing championships.

Brown teamed with trainer Steve Schoeffel of Evans City to win with Stickler Hanover, owned by Evans City residents Virginia and Kathy Schoeffel. Brown also brought home trotter Explosive Flower at 28-1 odds.

Dream Dancing repeated as a divisional fairs champion for owner York. Another one of York’s horses, Tiamogonedancen, won the 2-Year-Old Filly Pace.

Trainer-driver Shawn Johnston of Evans City guided Jessiejesorjessica to her second straight win and owner Renee Bercury of Slippery Rock saw filly trotter Delovely Hall win for the third time in four starts.
