Red Apple Award nominations open
Nominations of outstanding teachers are being accepted for the seventh annual Red Apple Awards.
The United Way of Butler County teamed with Armstrong and the Pennsylvania State Education Association to present the awards.
These awards honor educators who exemplify outstanding dedication to students, leadership among peers and a commitment to the wider community. Nominations may be made by anyone.
An award will be given to one public school teacher educator teaching in each school district in the county and one at the Butler County Vocational-Technical School. Other awards will be presented to an instructor/professor at the Butler County Community College and at Slippery Rock University.
Awardees will be announced in May and honored at the United Way's Annual Breakfast Meeting and Leadership Butler County Graduation. They will be presented with a crystal apple on an engraved base. Each district and college will receive an engraved plate to add to a permanent plaque.
