SAGE recently led school beautification efforts in the school's memorial garden on Earth Day.The event, held every Earth Day, cleans up a popular garden that is dedicated to eight students who died tragically during a four-month period of the 2002 school year.Karyn Beck, a high school French teacher and National Honor Society adviser for three years, said a group of about 60 students were trimming roses, spreading mulch and sanding benches."Our goal is to get the garden as clean as possible," Beck said. "We are trying to do it now so it looks really nice for prom."The memorial garden is a popular spot for prom photographs and outdoor classes.Allegheny Mineral donated a ton of stone that was used for walkways and edging for flower beds, and Jespead's Green House in Prospect donated flowers and other plants."All of the students are very respectful of this place," Beck said.
