Lois Strang

Lois J. Furey Strang, 69, of Fenelton, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital from an extended battle with diabetic complications.

Lois was born Aug. 15, 1952, in Fenelton. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence R. Sr. and Katherine Musthaf Furey.

She was a member of St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville.

She was a graduate of Butler High School. She furthered her career and became a graduate of Jameson School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

She was a talented gardener, enjoyed growing flowers and plants and had operated Country Roots Greenhouse with her husband, David.

She is survived by her husband, David J. Strang, whom she married at McConnells Mill on Aug. 30, 2014.

Also surviving are two children, Dixie Watterson of Worthington, and Brian A. Watterson and his wife, Teresa, of Butler; three grandchildren, Ken Watterson and his wife, Britney, of Fenelton, Kristopher Thomas of Fenelton, and Steffanie Thomas of Worthington.

Lois was looking forward to the birth of two great-grandchildren next year.

Also surviving are two brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Furey Jr. and his wife, Rachel, and William “Bill” Furey and his wife, Theresa; two sisters, Carol Osche, and Sandra Lewis and her husband, David, all of Fenelton; as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by a great-grandchild angel baby; one brother; and three sisters.

STRANG — Friends of Lois J. Furey Strang, who died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville, with the Rev. Ward Stakem, OFM Cap., senior parochial vicar of St. Francis of Assisi Parish officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Herman.
