Knoch students provide comfort

Mykenzie Werner gathers up the backpacks full of things children and teenagers who enter foster care may need. The Knoch High School Family Consumer Science class collected 22 bags for the Foster Love Project office in Pittsburgh.

The coronavirus pandemic hasn’t stopped a class at Knoch High School from providing for other young people who may need some comfort at a difficult time.

Although all South Butler County School District school buildings are closed because of the pandemic, the Family Consumer Science class still managed to hold a collection from Nov. 9 to Dec. 9 of items to fill “transition bags” for children and teenagers who enter a foster home.

Each backpack contains a stuffed animal, basic hygiene items, a set of sleepwear and other items.

The backpacks’ contents are specific to various ages and genders.

The Knoch High class provided 22 bags to the Foster Love Project office in Pittsburgh, which were delivered on Tuesday by senior Mykenzie Werner.
