Nextier set to buy Morgan Center
NexTier Bank will close next week on the purchase of The Morgan Center on the Diamond in Butler.
Built in the early 1970s by the late Butler businessman Bill Morgan, the center has about 15 tenants, many of whom have been in the Morgan Center for decades.
NexTier Bank has been a tenant for several years, and when they asked the building's current owner, Nancy Morgan-McCarren, if the building could be renamed using the NexTier moniker, McCarren decided to sell.
The cost of the building is not known.
McCarren said the last thing the Morgan family will remove after the closing is a portrait of Bill Morgan that hangs in the lobby.
"I know my dad would be OK with this," McCarren said. "I really feel he would be."
The building is the site of the former Nixon Hotel.
NexTier Bank representatives said on Friday that they will comment on the sale once it closes.
