HEALTHY KIDS DAY Y focuses on activities to do during summer
CRANBERRY TWP — Children at the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA on Saturday learned numerous ways to stay active and healthy.
The event, held in conjunction with national Healthy Kids Day, sought to inform families about ways to keep kids moving throughout the summer months.
The event featured vendors, activities and previews of current and upcoming offerings at the YMCA.
“This is a free community event to help promote healthy kids in every essential aspect,” said Ashley Vranick, youth and family director at the YMCA in Cranberry. “It's not just eating and exercise.”
The event featured programs on water safety, camping activities and a gun safety awareness booth, she said.
“There's more to being a healthy kid, especially these days,” Vranick said. “The community has been tremendous just supporting this event.”
