The crash occurred at the intersection of Route 8 and Sandy Hill Road in Richland Township between a car and a Penn Waste Truck, according to an official at the scene. One vehicle is still on the scene.

RICHLAND TWP, Allegheny County — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash about 9 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 8 and Sandy Hill Road just over the Butler County line.

The crash occurred between a car and a Penn Waste truck. The car is still at the scene.

Northern Regional Police Chief John Sicilia said the driver of the car was dead when police arrived at the scene. He also said the driver of the truck was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

A section of Route 8 was closed from the Bakerstown area to Glasglow Road. Sandy Hill and Cunningham roads also are closed. Authorities have opened up one lane of travel on Route 8. Sicilia says crews are expected to be on the scene for two or three more hours.
