SRU's Pienaar wins mat title
Slippery Rock University sophomore wrestler Charlie Pienaar grabbed a conference title at 184 pounds Saturday at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships held at SRU.
Pienaar defeated Edinboro's Jim Gibson 2-0 in the title bout.
He is the third Rock wrestler to capture an individual conference title in as many seasons, preceded by Brad Cieleski, who accomplished the feat in 2002-03 and 2003-04.
Slippery Rock University senior Rachel Stultz capped her swimming career with The Rock by setting a pool record time of four minutes, 45.58 seconds in the 400-yard individual medley in SRU's meet with Indiana (Pa.) Saturday at Morrow Field House.Stultz also won the 100 butterfly (59.86) and swam a leg on the winning 400 freestyle relay squad.The effort came in a losing cause as SRU (5-4) dropped a 127-111 decision to the rival Indians.SRU's men's team also lost by a score of 139-78.
