James McLafferty
James H. McLafferty, 86, of Saxonburg, passed away on Jan. 3, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, with his family by his side.
Born March 22, 1935, in Worthington, he was the son of Peter McLafferty and Ethel Bauldoff McLafferty.
Jim served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1958 to 1959.
He had worked at Penn-Dixie Cement, was a foreman for Du-Co Ceramics and drove a school van for W.L. Roenigk.
He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Saxonburg, where he had served on the church council.
He was a life member of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company, and was also a previous Saxonburg ambulance commander. He was a member of the Saxonburg American Legion Post 683, Winfield Grange and the Worthington Golf League. He was a former Scout Master of Boy Scout Pack 51 in Saxonburg, and was a Butler County USA softball umpire and also drove for Meals on Wheels. Jim was very active in volunteering for whatever organization he was a member of.
He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, playing cards and was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan. He was a family oriented man, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Helen (Fisher) McLafferty, whom he married May 14, 1955, in Winchester, Va.; his son, Bruce (Traci) McLafferty of Cabot; his daughter, Sharon McLafferty of Redondo Beach, Calif.; two brothers, Gary (Helen) McLafferty of Cabot, and George (Nancy) McLafferty of Saxonburg; his sister, Mary Tirk of Butler; two grandchildren, Christian McLafferty and Cayla (Frank Mugo) McLafferty; his great-granddaughter, Stella Mugo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Edward McLafferty.

MCLAFFERTY — Friends of James H. McLafferty, who died Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Shirey officiating.
Interment will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery, with military honors performed by the Saxonburg American Legion.
