BUTLER TWP — The Butler School Board is looking for volunteers to join the board.

The board at its meeting Monday night voted to accept the resignation of Leland Clark. Clark informed the board earlier this month that he would have to leave the board after accepting a position with Dillon McCandless Coulter King & Graham law firm in Butler, which represents the district.

Clark was elected to a 4-year term that started in 2016 and runs through the end of 2019.

The board approved an advertisement Monday night that asks for anyone interested in the position to submit a letter and resume to the board secretary.

The board is not obligated to publicly advertise the vacancy or conduct interviews, but decided last week that in-person interviews would be the best way to find a qualified candidate to appoint for the vacancy.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, have lived in the district for at least one year and have “good moral character,” according to the ad.

The deadline to apply is April 25 and the board expected to conduct interviews at their regular meeting May 7 and appoint a new member May 14.

School board members are not paid.
