RIMERSBURG, Clarion Co. — Lisa E. Hummel, band director in the Union School District in Rimersburg, was recently awarded a Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Citation of Excellence.

Only 11 high school music directors in the state, of which four were band directors, received this award this year.

Hummel initially was presented the award at the PMEA Annual In-Service Conference in Pittsburgh on April 23. She was presented it again during the May 12 Union High School Spring Band Concert.

A 1987 graduate of Keystone High School in Knox, she received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Clarion (Pa.) University and a Master's Degree in Music Education from Pennsylvania State University in State College,.

She is in her 19th year at Union.
